Robots Protest in Poland

 

In a striking visual performance that captured the attention of passersby in Warsaw, a fleet of approximately 30 humanoid and quadrupedal robots gathered outside Poland's Ministry of Digital Affairs. The automated rally, complete with bipedal machines and robotic dogs waving Polish flags, was staged as an attention-grabbing protest to urge government action on artificial intelligence and workplace automation laws.

Organized by the civic initiative Democratism—headed by technology and labor market expert Grzegorz Kuliś—the demonstration aimed to show the public and lawmakers how far robotics technology has already progressed. Loudspeakers broadcast slogans such as "Defend workplaces" and "Don't wait, regulate," emphasizing concerns over how rapidly developing AI models and physical automation could displace human workers in both physical and cognitive jobs.

The demonstration drew a direct response from government officials on-site, with Poland's Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski coming out to meet the organizers. Gawkowski acknowledged the growing concerns, noting that managing uncontrolled AI integration and evolving robotics remains a top legislative priority as lawmakers work to enact protective frameworks for the modern labor market.
