👑 Mass Walkout at Miss Universe Ceremony After Executive Shouts at Contestant

A heated dispute at a Miss Universe pre-sash ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand, quickly escalated into a mass walkout yesterday, after a senior executive publicly berated a contestant. The dramatic incident, captured on a livestream on Tuesday (November 4, 2025), showed Miss Universe Executive Director Nawat Itsaragrisil launching a verbal attack on Miss Mexico's entrant, Fátima Bosch, demanding she "explain herself."

The conflict, which took place at a hotel ceremony, reportedly stemmed from a request for contestants to post promotional stories about the competition on social media. The situation immediately turned tense as Itsaragrisil began hurling insults at the 26-year-old Bosch in front of the cameras. As Bosch attempted to respond, the director tried to silence her, demanding: "I'm still talking, listen!"

Bosch refused to be silenced, shooting back: "I have a voice. You're not respecting me as a woman."

The executive then called for security to remove Bosch, prompting gasps throughout the room. He shocked attendees further by calling Bosch "dumb," which proved to be the final straw for the other contestants.

Reigning 2024 Miss Universe winner Victoria Theilvig immediately took a stand. "We have respect for everyone, but this is not how things can be handled," she stated before rallying her fellow contestants. "To trash another girl—it's beyond disrespectful and it's nothing I've ever done. That's why I'm taking my coat and I'm going."

Clips of the moment quickly went viral, showing Itsaragrisil shouting "stop" as dozens of contestants got up and left the venue in solidarity with Miss Mexico. The executive even threatened to disqualify the contestants from the upcoming finale on November 21, but the women were not deterred.

Addressing the media later, Theilvig explained that Itsaragrisil's behavior was "disrespectful," adding, "This is about women's rights... we need to do something bigger." She praised the delegates for their unity: "Standing up for yourself is not always easy, but it is one of the most important acts of self-respect and strength you can show."

Bosch also addressed local media, saying, "I love Thailand. I respect your people and your culture deeply. But what your director just did was not respectful... The world needs to see this, because we are empowered women, and no one should silence our voices."

Miss Universe president Raúl Rocha Cantú has since condemned Itsaragrisil, stating, "I will not allow the values of respect and dignity of women to be violated. Unfortunately Nawat has forgotten the true meaning of what it means to be a genuine host."
