There is no denying that the Ghibli animated film is really popular all over the world. Including prominent Ghibli characters like Totoro with a big, round, chunky character, making viewers easily fall in love.
Totoro is based on the legendary creatures from Ainu folktales called the Koropokkuru, which means “People under the butterbur”. Totoro became a hit after the movie My Neighbor Totoro aired in 1988.
The creative grandpa at the age of 70s, have built a hand made Totoro and turn it into a part of a bus stop in that area. This statue became an instant hit in the neighborhood and tourist attraction hotspot. He forgets to add the umbrella that Totoro is holding actually.
