Ouch! Tourist Tears Anus on Shark After Ignoring Warning

 

Natalie Reynolds and her company caught the shark in an undisclosed location using a stingray on a hook, tearing its mouth open in the process, after which she sat on the animal to show off and take photos.


However, she ignored the fact that sharks have sharp skin, so a few seconds later she complained to the cameraman that she had torn her anus. "I know you told me not to sit on a shark, but that's what I wanted," said this American woman from Los Angeles. Although they eventually released the shark, Reynolds was called out by many on social media for animal cruelty.

For your info, Shark skin isn't exactly sharp like a knife, but it is rough and sandpaper-like. This is because shark skin is covered in tiny tooth-like scales called dermal denticles. These denticles all point towards the tail of the shark, which helps to reduce friction as the shark swims through the water.

If you were to rub your hand along a shark's body from head to tail, it would feel smooth. But if you rubbed your hand from tail to head, you would likely get scratched by the denticles. In fact, some people who work with sharks have reported getting minor cuts and scrapes from shark skin, which is sometimes called "shark burn."
