On May 26, 2023, an Asiana Airlines flight from Jeju Island to Daegu, South Korea, landed safely despite a passenger opening an emergency door shortly before landing. The Airbus A321 plane was carrying 194 passengers and 10 crew members.

The incident occurred when the plane was about two or three minutes from landing. A male passenger sitting next to an emergency door opened a cover and pulled a lever, so the door opened about 200 meters (656 feet) above the ground. The plane's cabin was depressurized, and nine people were taken to a nearby hospital after suffering breathing problems.

The passenger who opened the door was arrested and is being investigated by South Korean police. The cause of the incident is still under investigation, but it is believed that the passenger may have been trying to get off the plane before it landed.

This is the second time in recent months that an Asiana Airlines flight has had an emergency door opened during flight. In January 2023, a flight from Seoul to San Francisco was forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger opened an emergency door.

Asiana Airlines has said that it is taking the incident seriously and is working to prevent it from happening again. The airline has said that it will review its emergency procedures and will provide additional training to its staff.
