Indonesian Rain Shaman Failed To Stop Rain At Mandalika International Street Circuit


In Indonesia, the organizers of the Mandalika Grand Prix hired a shaman to withstand the rain on race day. The shaman known as Rara Istiani Wulandari was seen struggling while trying to 'stop the heavy rain' that soaked the Mandalika race track until the race schedule had to be postponed for more than an hour.

The shaman desperately tried to stop the rain as she walked down the pit lane, while chanting a mantra and ringing his bell in front of the pit stop. Her actions made the riders and the team taking part in the race, look at her with a smile and confused. 

Probably, they are first time to see how the shaman ritual trying to stop the rain. However, she failed, and the weather did not take notice and it was still raining at the track. 

Rara's action received various reactions from social media users, and even foreign media. Most social media users in the country expressed embarrassment with Rara's actions. Some twitter user says "Hopefully it can make Indonesia's name famous, instead of embarrassing the country, and even being ridiculed by everyone". Others Netizen describe Rara as fooling herself.

Perhaps the shaman didn't succeed to keep the rain away, but succeeds to cooling the hot asphalt track and ensuring the riders didn’t need to change the wet tires to soft ones.
