Only In Kyoto Logos Color Are Looking Different Than The Original

Kyoto is one of the most famous cultural cities in the world and it still has many important and historical architectural structures even though society has become modernized.

Nearly 30 million tourists visit Kyoto each year and many people in Kyoto make their living through the tourist industry. Therefore, if Kyoto loses its unique traditional culture many local people will lose their work. To preserve Kyoto’s traditional and historical landscapes, Miyako Landscape Guidelines were introduced in 2007.

These guidelines required all the buildings in Kyoto city are required to be built in Japanese style and cannot be built above 45 meters high except for the iconic symbols in Kyoto City such as Toji Temple and Kyoto tower.

In certain areas, there are stricter detailed building code regulations ranging from height, shape and color of roof, angle of the roofline, wall color and material when it is near at main tourist spot and historical landscape.

Many buildings and logos are using brown color to blend with the Kyoto’s heritage style, that's why logos look slightly different in Kyoto than elsewhere in the world. The best part, vending machines, street cones, mailboxes, and telephone booths are also painted in brown color.
